I’m still working my way through it and some of these ways of naming pedagogy are new to me. But I can totally see how these pedagogies have fed into the way we have historically taught writing. Love to hear your perspective
Hi John, I found it easy to read and teacher friendly which I think is important in this kind of publication. I hope you got some useful content out of it.
I downloaded it last night Rebecca and skim read it today. Timely blog - well done! Compared to reading, there is a dearth of information about writing - honestly, our strong writers in primary school often just ‘are’. We know their writing is good but teachers can’t always specifically identify why. In the past it’s been about engagement, free choice and text types. Writing is our focus this year and we are all discovering our knowledge as teachers needs development. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Thanks Susan. ITE has a lot to answer for too. I wonder if methods lecturers were themselves taught with a balanced literacy approach? I have a long way to go with the teaching of writing but at least there is now a cultural shift. Thanks for commenting, Susan.
I shall comment after I have given the topic deeper consideration, though at a guess I will be very supportive of your endeavours!
